The history of music is full of concerts to benefit someone. From time immemorial there were the musicians who played for cuts or kings. Music was often the excuse to bring people together behind a common cause.

In the history of rock there are dozens of examples of magnitude. We have seen them together, leaving aside for Kampuchea divismo for Unicef, for human rights in Live8, etc.., Etc. .. Perhaps the first rock concert of international significance in this line is this: George Harrison who managed to assemble to cry with hunger in Bangladesh.

At that time, George had a close relationship with Ravi Shankar , the famous Bengali musician. Between them they hatched the work. Bangladesh (Pakistan originally East), who recently left a bloody war for over 15 years of independence, suffered the brunt of storms that left thousands of families without shelter or food. The original poverty, war were added and the weather. In the midst of this bleak picture, the musicians decided to make the benefit concert, where he joined more than $ S200.000 which then distribute the UNICEF in the area. The image of the child Bengali original vinyl top was heartbreaking and clearly illustrates the message.

Musically, the concert was exceptional. George called "friends" to join, among which we highlight his friend Eric Clapton on guitar, Bob Dylan: guitar, harmonica and vocals, Billy Preston: organ and vocals, Leon Russell: piano and voice, Ravi Shankar: sitar, Ringo Starr: drums, and vocals, another drummer "Beatle" (who also play with Lennon and Yoko Ono) Jim Keltner, Don Preston, a guitarist who played with Frank Zappa, Lou Rawls, Al Jarreau, Nat King Cole, etc., German bassist Klaus Voormann, and many other musicians.

The Concert for Bangladesh marked a time and began a journey of commitment many other artists soon followed. Recorded on August 1, 1971 at Madison Square Garden in New York, was the first public appearance of Harrison after the official separation of the Beatles. I got it to 320 @, in the remastered version of 2005, with the artwork and bonus tracks that were not on the original vinyl.

Grosssssssso!
